Doing Toaster Criticism

Today in class, we're going to start practicing criticism with an example that follows Ian Bogost's provocation in his introduction to How to Talk About Videogames.

To begin, organize yourselves into groups of no more than three. I will then present the class with a toaster.

Based on this specific toaster by Hamilton Beach, your job as a group is to collaboratively invent the most compelling piece of toaster criticism that you can within the time limit. You'll deliver your toaster criticism to the rest of the class in no more than one minute (60 seconds), following which, everyone else will enter a score for your group's presentation.

The winning team will receive toast. (I will bring toast on Friday.)
